The Company

An emerging global leader in Artificial Intelligence, specifically within the Pharmaceutical, Biological Research and Technology sectors. In less than a decade, the company has developed immensely, with prominent success in the AI space, and is now approaching the next stage in its growth plans. Specialists in AI innovation and optimisation, the organisation prides themselves on identifying and implementing AI solutions that make a positive impact in society.

The company has a lean legal function, based in Central London. The Head of Legal is seeking a Junior Legal Counsel who is keen to develop their career within the AI space. The sector is highly regulated and as such, the successful legal counsel will ideally have previously worked within a regulated environment, dealing with a broad range of general commercial, technology and compliance matters.

Responsibilities

The successful in-house legal counsel will advise the business at a national and international level. Reporting to the Head of Legal, the legal counsel will deal with a variety of commercial and compliance matters, including;

  • Drafting and negotiating commercial transactions, supply and service agreements, NDAs, distributor/agency agreements, joint development agreements, contractor terms and various international deals
  • Provide advice to the Businesses with respect to compliance matters
  • Provide legal and compliance training to the business (For example: Use of Standard Terms, Anti-Bribery, Competition, data protection etc.)
  • Manage data protection matters and assist with implementing data privacy policies and procedures
  • Liaise with departments across the different business units, negotiate, draft and agree new contracts and renewals

About You

A passionate and enthusiastic junior legal counsel, who enjoys acting as a ‘business problem solver’. Commercially minded, you can offer value to the business by excelling in stakeholder management. Prior experience in the pharmaceutical, technology or Biotech space would be beneficial, however all candidates with relevant commercial and compliance experience are encouraged to apply.

  • UK Qualified Solicitor
  • Commercial, business enabling approach
  • Experience of commercial contracts, data protection laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of compliance matters, such as anti-bribery and corruption
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment
